The San Francisco Symphony’s acclaimed TV series, Keeping Score, hosted by world-renowned conductor, Michael Tilson Thomas will air nationally on PBS in late June, exploring the life and music of enigmatic composer,Gustav Mahler.
May 2011 marks the 100th anniversary of Gustav Mahler’s death. To commemorate the day, Thomas salutes Mahler, a major life influence, during the first stop of theSan Francisco Symphony’s European tour, Prague, today in this YouTube video (headphones or speakers may be necessary for best sound quality).
From boyhood, Michael Tilson Thomas was greatly influenced by the work of Mahler and is now one of the world’s most famed Mahler interpreters, often conducting his compositions without any sheet music.
